Ukiyo: A Stool explores the design, drafting, and construction processes of furniture design. When tasked to create a stool, the silhouette of the Japanese torii became my guide. Ukiyo, as the name suggests, is intended to aid the user in dwelling in the "transient world", resting in the present.
